Photographing New York

New York is photogenic.  You can spend day and night taking pictures around the city from every angle and it still feels like you are just scratching the surface.

A few suggestions for some nice spots to take pictures are included below.

Gansevoort Hotel on 13th street and 9th avenue.  Nice rooftop bar with panoramic views of the city.  After you get your shots, stay for a cocktail or two (just know you will be paying Meatpacking District prices.)  If you are a newcomer to the city or have friends visiting, this place is sure to impress.

The Frying Pan – 26th street on a boat in the Hudson River.  It actually is a boat with a bar and another must visit spot during warm weather.  Be warned, this is not a secret location so pick your day wisely or get there early to ensure a seat.

The Boat Basin – 79th in Riverside Park and right on the Hudson River.  Ideal for sunset photography and then multiple beers with friends.  One note, the Boat Basin is more of a bar under a bridge than an actual building so if the weather happens to be bad, they will not be open.  Just check in advance if it looks like rain.

Williamsburg – With graffiti, a nice mixture of hipster culture and general cool vibe you can spent a few hours in this Brooklyn locale and get some nice pictures.  Simply hop on the L train at Union Square and get off on Bedford Avenue in Brooklyn.
