Artists and Fleas, started in 2003 is a local craft bazaar located on 70 North 7th Street between Wythe and Kent Avenues.  Yes, it is another spot in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and yes it is definitely worthy of another blog entry.  The market is like a little Hipster capitalist haven right off the L train.

They are open on the weekends between 10am and 7pm.  Growing up, when my family wanted to check out the flea market we would arrive around 7am when the doors opened.  But this is NYC and people (business people are no exception in this case) do no prescribe to the early bird gets the worm.  Knowing this, you can casually work your way over to the market, stopping off to get coffee at Konditori or New York Muffins along the way.  I have been going to New York Muffins for awhile and just tried Konditori for the first time the other weekend.  Two totally different vibes and styles of coffee but worth checking out depending on what you are in the mood for.

Coffee in hand, head down 7th Avenue toward the water and you will come across Artists and Fleas in a smallish building on the left-hand side of the street.  You probably can spend about 1 hour walking around and really see everything you need.  There are some creative local artists making everything from iPhone cases to handmade paper cards.  This is the ideal place to get presents to send to your friends and family who live in other cities because these are unique items and have that “nyc” feel.
