Summer has gone and it is time for New Yorkers to get into their Fall nightlife routines. The outdoor patios serving PBR on a 90 degree day are behind us. It is time to gather your friends and find the corner booth of a dimly lit bar in New York City. Perhaps an underground unmarked establishment or one with live Jazz playing in the background.
It is time to bring out the warm weather drinks and today we have a great seasonal cocktail to try. This Maple Old Fashioned takes the classic version but with a Fall inspired twist. In addition to the traditional ingredients, this drink incorporates a maple and ginger infused syrup that has a great balance of flavors. The recipe comes to us from Skylark Bar in Brooklyn.
Servings: 1
Preparation Time: 5 minutes for the drink (a few hours for the housemade maple ginger syrup flavors to meld.)
Ingredients:
4 oz. Clyde May’s Alabama Style Whiskey
3 dashes Angostura Bitters
1/2 oz Ginger Maple Syrup
Orange Peel
Directions:
Pour 4 oz. of Clyde May’s into mixing glass. Add 3 dashes of Angostura Bitters and .5oz worth of Ginger Maple Syrup* . Stir, pour over fresh ice. Garnish with an orange peel.
*Ginger maple syrup is made in a quart container by pouring boiling water over chopped ginger and real maple syrup.
