MOMIX is a visual meal from a Michelin starred restaurant.  The menu starts with an amuse-bouche in the form of ‘Pleiades’ where a trio of dancers and their double headed batons transform the stage.

Subsequent dishes come out in quick succession: ‘Tuu’, ‘Marigolds’ (which was one of my top 3 favorites of the evening,) and a playful ‘Daddy Long Legs’.  ‘Paper Trails’, with its stellar lighting and projected imagery made for a crowd favorite and perfect end to the first half of the production.

‘Echoes of Narcissus’ opened after intermission with a strong solo performance by Sarah Nachbauer.  In it the dancer sees and responds to her own reflection in a pool of water and is set to the song “Space Weaver” by Lisa Gerrard.

It total, 17 sunning vignettes made up the night’s tasting menu.  MOMIX is currently at the Joyce Theater through August 12th and is an experience not to be missed.
