Urban Photography: In and Around Manhattan

Whether you have a DSLR or smartphone, photo opportunities present themselves all the time in New York.  You might stumble across some frozen camel milk at a grocery store on 42nd and 11th avenue or find your way across the George Washington Bridge for an afternoon hike in the Palisades.  Walking around let’s you experience all this great city has to offer (and will give you some things to circle back on and visit for a more in-depth visit the next time around.)

Winter Bird Watching in Central Park

There is a great documentary on HBO called, Birders: The Central Park Effect.  The movie shows the huge range of birds who live in the park and use it as a stop over on their migratory flights.

If you live in the city or are just visiting you can take full advantage of bird watching in the park.  One of the best places to go is the North Woods towards the top of the park.  Spending even an hour on the weekend will afford you the opportnity to see a lot of different bird species.

What Can I Do Morningside Heights?

Let’s say you have been to New York City before.  You have seen Times Square, attended a Broadway play, spent time with the Pharaohs in the Egyptian wing of the Met and sat at Bethesda Fountain in Central Park and watched the boats peacefully glide across the pond and then bump into each because no one knows who to steer those things apparently.
