“Olivier’s work was very honest and very human,” Simpson said. “It wasn’t so much like I was watching technique or virtuosic performance but I was actually involved in it, kind of like watching a film.”
Dreamstates is currently on a limited release tour across the United States and was shown at Harlem Stage on Friday. The film, written and directed by Anisia Uzeyman and starring both the director and Saul Williams engages the audience with it’s imagery of the United States, limited dialogue but puissant interactions between the two main characters and a deeply thoughtful soundtrack.

I scheduled to meet up with Joey Mangano in New York City. He arranges to meet me at STK in the meatpacking district and tells me reservations are under John Carlo at 8:30, it’s a Friday night. I ask him who is John; he tells me he’s a close friend who owes him a night out and that he’s picking up the bill all night.
