I think I just described everything in the title but allow me to expand a bit. I ran the annual midnight New Year’s Eve race through Central Park this year.
This event is a great way to ring in the new year. Join a couple thousand runners on a 4 mile race through the park. The course is well lit and there are hundreds of spectators lining the streets to cheer you on. The race also has a huge fireworks display that lasted the entire first mile of my run. The lights overhead and resonating boom of the fireworks really made this an exciting event.
I had been toying with the idea of running this race for the past few years. I finally decided to sign up and really enjoyed myself. I would recommend this event for groups of friends or if you are looking for something other than a bar or loft party.
A few notes:
1. The race entry fee is between $45-$60 dollars, depending on when you sign up so do it sooner rather than later. I think this is a bit pricey but it is NYC so you just deal with it. However, I did get a cool shirt, flashing bracelet (and of course was treated to a fireworks display and DJ concert/dance party)
2. It will be cold. Like 25 F degrees. So wear layers with a hat and gloves. Costumes and fun running gear is encouraged.
3. Have fun and enjoy the race through beautiful Central Park!
