Located uptown and accessible by the A,B,C and D trains the James Bailey Mansion is worth a quick visit. You can get close to the house for pictures but it is privately owned so you will not get to go inside to explore. The house is made of limestone, was constructed in the late 1880’s and does have a national historic landmark designation. Also, the “Bailey” for this mansion was of Barnum and Bailey Circus fame.
If you do make this trip, I would suggest you stop off as part of an extended bike ride or after you take some pictures walk 12 minutes across town to Trinity Cemetery to visit another historic NYC location.
