Profiles and Interviews With Interesting New Yorkers

New Single And Upcoming Album From Rising Artist Damien Musto

By Nick Christophers

New Jersey-based singer/songwriter Damien Musto is like many genuinely talented artists whose first taste of the music bug came from his family. Growing up, Damien was captivated by his father’s talent as an accomplished pianist and recalled his excitement hearing his dad jamming with his friends on his Hammond B3. Driven by this early inspiration, Damien took up trumpet in the fourth grade before eventually gravitating to guitar and vocals. It was clear that he was set on a lifelong musical journey.

Professionally, Damien experienced a career highlight when his band Hey Tiger earned a major career milestone opening for Bon Jovi at MetLife Stadium. “Opening for Bon Jovi was an amazing experience” and “it was a moment in time we will never forget.” Damien soon embarked on several national tours with the band OURS as a solo artist. He performed at iconic venues including the Viper Room in LA and LPR (Le Poisson Rouge) in Manhattan—a high-energy show that became a turning point for him. It was during these tours that the seeds for his newest music were planted.

As a songwriter, Damien uses music as his creative outlet. As a self-described introvert in everyday life, Damien shared that songwriting is the one place where he never feels intimidated to express his feelings. While past singles like “Open Up Your Heart” and “Without You” dove into the universal pain of heartbreak, his recently released alternative rock tracks “Game Over” and “Goodbye” resonate with anyone who has experienced the ending of a friendship. On the heels of releasing “Goodbye,” Damien is set to release his full-length album “Cracks in the Pavement” by the end of July.

Beyond his studio releases, Damien is also the creator and producer of the YouTube series “Live at Lucky Penny Studios.” Shot in Caldwell, New Jersey, the series is dedicated to building a music community where artists collaborate and back each other up on their original material. The most recent episode features a special reunion with his former bandmates from Hey Tiger. Damien also welcomes other bands who would like to take part in the show to reach out via email for details (damien@luckypennystudios.net). Following the release of “Cracks in the Pavement,” Damien plans to hit the road for a Midwest tour in August and September, continuing to pave his way into the hearts of music lovers everywhere.
