Multi Genre Artist Jim Duff Drops New Single

By Nick Christophers

Old school artists tend to cling to what makes great music last and that is lyrics and delivery. This would be the case for Jim Duff who just released his new single “More Than Love”. Duff has been at the music game for some time and has crafted over three hundred songs.  His music crosses many genres like folk, Americana, country, blues, jazz, and rock.

Jim was inspired by such classic talents as Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson, Guy Clark, Bob Dylan, John Prine, and Townes Van Zandt. One of his favorite bands is the legendary Lynyrd Skynyrd famous for their timeless track “Free Bird” which plays a role in his guitar playing and song arrangements.

He began his musical journey from his native Kentucky then moved to Cincinnati where he picked up where he left off.  His first project “Do It For Life” differs from his current project as he worked on the first one while he was battling cancer. The new project “More Than Love” is a testament to his two sons and how family is such an important part of his life.

“I was in a different mindset with “Do it for Life”. I was battling cancer. This current project is a tribute to my children. I wrote “More Than Love” in 2003 but never recorded it until this year.”

Jim has performed in the US and Puerto Rico over the years. Some of his key venues have been at The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Old Quarter Acoustic Café in Galveston, Cactus Cafe in Austin, the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, and Southgate House Revival near Cincinnati. On the track “More Than Love” Jim played all the instruments the piano, bass, and guitar. Also on the project is another heartfelt single titled “Walk With Me” which is based on a spiritual and meaningful moment with his youngest son while strolling at Washington Park. Like  he worked solo on the primary track, he wrote, produced, performed, mixed, and mastered the song “Walk With Me”.

His devotion to music is based on life’s precious moments, downfalls and revivals. With the release of “More Than Love” he wishes to offer fans a real human element to remind us that the simplest things in life are more powerful. Jim is presently set to be performing at the Bitter End in Manhattan by the end of the year. To catch his music, click the link below.
