Weekend Photography at Wave Hill

By Seth Fera-Schanes

Wave Hill was featured in Denise Oliveira’s article 10 Places You Should Visit in the Bronx.

I decided to make the trip on a Sunday afternoon for a photography session and it was a great choice.  The grounds are perfect for a date, having a little picnic or just to enjoy while reading a book under the shade of a tree.

A few items to consider: you can reach Wave Hill on public transit by subway or Metro North train.  From the train, you exit at Riverdale in the Bronx and will immediately be met by the Hudson River, a parking lot and not much else.  Don’t fret because the property is a slightly challenging .5 mile walk (hills included) or if you wait there is a regularly scheduled Wave Hill van that will pick you up and take you directly to the front gate (free of charge.)  Entry fee to get into Wave Hill is $8.

Summer (from the pictures below) is great but I would bet Fall is equally as good for a weekend trip.
