Plant Life In New York City Parks

By Seth Fera-Schanes The 2013-2014 winter doesn’t seem to want to end.  It “technically” did end when we “officially” ushered in “Spring” on March 20th and we actually did have some nice days around that time but nothing has quite stuck. Most New Yorker’s are grinding their teeth […]

Habitat For Humanity Builds a House In Times Square

By Seth Fera-Schanes Times Square, commonly referred to as “the crossroads of the world” is large, bright, loud and a great launching pad for marketing promotions. I got off the train this morning and right in front of me was the beginnings of a wood frame for a […]

Hook and Ladder 8 Firehouse in Tribeca

By: Seth Fera-Schanes NYC has been the main subject or backdrop for countless movies.  Walk around long enough and certain streets, parks or buildings will start to look very familiar as you recall seeing them in a movie you watched growing up. Whether it is Katz’s Deli (When […]

Xu Bing Phoenix at Cathedral of Saint John the Divine

The Cathedral of Saint John the Divine is located on 113th and Amsterdam Avenue in Manhattan.  It is one of my favorite buildings in the city, one of the largest churches in the world and also boasts a pair of peacocks that roam around the grounds out back.  Bottom line is the next time you are in the city, make a trip uptown and visit the church.

So They Say It’s Cold Outside

By: Seth Fera-Schanes First week into February and I am officially admitting winter has gotten to me.  There has been a recent spat of polar vortex’s, snow, rain, ice and general grayness moving through the city.  I actually learned an interesting new winter recipe this week: One part […]

Super Bowl 48 Activities in Times Square

Super Bowl Boulevard took over Times Square in advance of Super Bowl 48 this week.  I posted a few picture galleries of some of the performances earlier in the week.

In addition to singing and dancing there were a lot of other activities and sights to see such as seeing the Vince Lombardi trophy on display or a British Marching band just cruising down the street.

Empire State Building in Super Bowl Colors

By Seth Fera-Schanes The Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks are getting ready for Super Bowl 48 and the Empire State is showing some team pride (albeit not really knowing which team it supports.) The Empire State building can display a range of colors and depending on the time […]
