Another Year at the Javits Center for the New York Comic Con

It was another wild and crazy Sunday at the NY Comic Con with thousands of visitors packing the Javits.

Just taking a walk from Penn Station on 34th Street to 11th avenue it would have been impossible not to bump into Superman, Wonder Woman, Captain America or Thor. Attendees paraded down the street in their favorite costumes with style. Passerby’s would get whiplash just trying to decipher whether Halloween came to early.

Long Island Anime and Fantasy Convention Supports Cancer Awareness

Comic and Anime conventions have been popping up everywhere yet only one of them is based on bringing a terrible disease to the forefront. Immortal Con which takes place in Ronkonkoma, Long Island is in its second year and building with every new step. The founder Elsie Martinez-Ginsberg is all too familiar with the beast called cancer. She is stage four cancer fighter and still battling to keep up her good work. Elsie thought of a way of bringing breast cancer and cancer in general to the forefront in a fun and special way. Hence, her plan to incorporate anime and fantasy while highlighting the need for more awareness to this painful disease.

Comic Con Invades Queens With A Splash

We have heard of NY Comic Con, Eternal Con, NJ Comic Con and now we have Winter Con. The geeks are coming out in force. The popularity of comic, digital media and collectibles have become more prevalent in the past few years. Currently almost every season there is a new Comic Con.  The largest and most popular is the NY Comic Con that is during October, Eternal Con which is building steam is in the summer and the NJ Con is in November and Winter Con wraps it up in December.

Superheros in Gotham

Everyone comes to New York to make it, even superheroes. Batman, Superman, Captain America, Spider-man, and Iron Man all have lived, worked, captured villains, and rescued victims here. The Superheroes in Gotham exhibit at the New York Historical Society traces these masked heroes from the pages of comic books to radio, television, film, and Broadway.
