Fun Things To Do On Randall’s Island

There are so many fun activities found on Randall’s Island located in the East River right between the New York City boroughs of Queens and Manhattan.  Below are 10 great activities for you to try on the weekend or after work.

Incredible Bike Ride in Putnam and Westchester Counties

Have you ever stood on the Metro-North train platform on a Saturday morning and seen groups of people looking like they are ready for a bike race?  They are most likely heading upstate to take advantage of a number of bike paths and trails found just outside the city.

One of these rides begins in Brewster, NY.  Metro-North runs approximately once at hour on the weekends to this town in Putnam County.  From the train station, it is one mile to the entrance and start of the Putnam Trailway.

Harlem Hops Beer Hall

Harlem Hops, located on between 133rd and 134th streets on Adam Clayton Powell Avenue is a must visit beer hall if you are uptown Manhattan.

The beer hall has feels roomy with plenty of seats and space to stand and hangout with friends.  Harlem Hops also has a backyard patio with a few chairs and tables if you want to take advantage of nice weather.

Visit Lyndhurst Mansion in Tarrytown

Lyndhurst Mansion is around a 45 minutes train ride on Metro-North from Grand Central Station.  Off-peak roundtrip train tickets will cost around $21.  A quick taxi ride from the Tarrytown train station to the mansion entrance is $7.  A one hour small group guided tour of the mansion is $18.  While this day trip upstate will cost you around $50, I would recommend it for the architectural and New York history as well as just walking around the grounds and taking pictures.
