I am amazed at the growth of my garden. Â In just a few weeks, the starter plants have really filled out and are racing toward the sky. Â I even had the opportunity to take a few lettuce leaves, chives and cilantro and add to sandwiches and guacamole. Â Pretty exciting start to the season.
There are about 20 other planter boxes in the garden so I have been taking the opportunity to see how everyone else is doing. Â The range of vegetables is fun to see. Â Everything from collards to tomatillos, sunflowers to strawberries. Â The garden community also decided to put in a raspberry bush, peach tree and grape vines for everyone to share.
A buttermilk biscuit isn’t a buttermilk biscuit without gravy! Â The same rules apply to real southern cooking; you have to experience it in the South. Few brands of liquor have earned such fame as Jack Daniel’s whiskey. Maybe it’s due to incredible marketing efforts. Maybe it’s because the name alone conjures images of old-timey men in the South sitting in cozy chairs and drinking their nightly glass. Whatever the case, people flock from near and far to the tiny town of Lynchburg, Tennessee, to tour the distillery and explore the surrounding area, all the while getting to peek at the life of the brand’s protagonist.
One of my favorite parts of living in Music City is its proximity to exceptional performance spaces and as a result, access to incredible performers. For most people familiar with Nashville, this typically means events at Ryman Auditorium or Bridgestone Arena, not to mention the many music venues throughout the city. However, I feel equally lucky that Nashville is home to the Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC) and the theatrical performances it hosts.
A bostock is the pastry you didn’t know you needed in your life. Another genius approach to day-old bread and an alternative to an eggy French toast, a traditional bostock is a slice of brioche topped with frangipane and almonds. It’s good for breakfast.
