The Santas Are Coming

By Seth Fera-Schanes Every year in New York around mid-December a very interesting thing happens.  Similar to the great Wildebeest migration of the Serengeti or Monarch butterflies traversing North America, thousands upon thousands of Santa Claus’ begin to congregate in midtown Manhattan.  It is the annual SantaCon and […]

All Aboard for the Bronx Botanical Garden

A ten minute walk east from the 4 train’s Bedford Park stop is the Bronx Botanical Garden.  I would recommend a visit to this well manicured park anytime of the year but especially during the holiday season.  Starting in mid-November, the Botanical Garden showcases its extraordinary collection of […]

Van Cortlandt Park – Bronx

By Seth Fera-Schanes Take the 1 train to its last stop in the Bronx and you will find yourself on the sidewalk standing at the entrance of Van Cortlandt park.  This park offers scenic walking, challenging running trails and cross country courses, large ponds and the first public […]

A Fall Day in Central Park

New York is steadily transitioning into winter.  Most of the leaves are off the trees, eggnog lattes are in abundance and pea-coats are out in full force. I am ready for winter but right around this time every year I feel a a tinge of longing for the last few days of […]

Da Nico Ristorante – 164 Mulberry St – Little Italy

By Melissa Limberg In a place like Little Italy, a restaurant is a dime a dozen.  It’s hard to even walk through on a nice day because everyone is running up to you saying, “TABLE?! I GOT A TABLE! OUTSIDE!!” you don’t even really know where to start. […]

Tres Terrific Tapas

By Melissa Limberg Tapas style dining is one of the most underrated experiences I have come across. The art of creating small dishes to share is truly an engaging way to enjoy a meal with friends. For those of you unfamiliar with this, I think it works best […]

Reynard @ Wythe Hotel – 80 Wythe Ave. – Williamsburg

By Melissa Limberg Mmm, the Reynard. Yum. If you remember a previous post of mine you’ll know that it’s not typically my cup of tea to go to hotel bars/restaurants… but I’m always willing to go where the getting is good. And it’s goooooood here. The Wythe is a […]

HelpUsAdopt.org + InterMix

By Melissa Limberg I would like to give a huge thanks to HelpUsAdopt.org for having me at their event on Wednesday night.  It was fabulous, it was fashionable, and financially successful thanks to some big hearts dropping some big bills!  (Though I will throw in the fact that I’m […]

It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

In the title I am talking about fall in NYC and not the holiday season Andy Williams crooned on his 1963 album.

Autumn in New York is my favorite time of the year. Gone are the days of oppressive heat and sweat soaked subway walls. The international tourist set have retreated to build back their bank accounts so they can come again next summer. There is a lull before the Christmas tourist crew finds their way into the city to clog the streets as they ogle all the pretty lights and trees. Clearly this writer has some seasonal issues he needs to work through.

Tour de Gay!

New York, New York.  A city so nice, they named it twice.  Ahh, the distinct pleasure of living in a cultural mecca cannot be overstated. Rich in culture and diversity, New York City has some of the best nightlife for any demographic.
